This little cafe nestled within Lohas Hotel is my most beloved. Good coffee & Thai tea at an affordable price, and killer pretzels. Mrs. Fai is hands down the most cheerful and skillful barista.

My local go-to coffee shop of choice right at the end of Sukhumvit, Soi 2. A wide choice of great coffee ranging from a brisk Americano or comforting Cappucino through to the more exotic Yuzu iced Kohi - a lively Japanese combination - or a reviving iced Coconut Americano. For those who feel sufficiently caffeinated, there's an excellent choice of teas including Matcha, Chaidim (Earl Grey, Green or Jasmine) Butterfly pea - the lavender one is particularly good - and a delicious take on the traditional Thai iced tea which will appeal to those with a bit of a sweet tooth. The charming and helpful staff will tailor the amount of sugar to your requirements. In addition, there's a range of fabulously tasty sourdough pastries and bagels all made with unbleached flour. The plain bagel is good; the jalapeño bagel doubly so - although I feel a bit of a heel for abandoning an old friend. The Kouign-amann is dangerously moresome as are the croissants. For those needing a mid afternoon boost, there's a choice of ice cream tubs including a great durian-flavoured option, for a real taste of Thailand. Over and above the comestibles and excellent service, Zen Den, as its name suggests, has a great and calming atmosphere - unusual as it adjoins the activity of Lohas Residences reception area. I cannot explain this adequately but when the heat and bustle of Bangkok gets to me, this is one of my favourite retreats. I notice that I am not the only non-hotel guest to take this view. It's a short walk from Benjakitti Park, so why not make it your start or refreshing finishing point for a visit. There's often an offer of coffee & a pastry at the bargain price of 169 Baht!
